“My process begins by foraging the soil, stone and iron from local mountains. Each piece is made individually, and all ingredients unique. I observe these ingredients carefully and how I form the clay depends on the individual characteristics of the particular soil. I listen to the clay’s voice and match its pace. This process is intensive and inefficient but allows me to feel the truth of nature hidden behind ancient techniques.” – Murayama
