A one-of-a-kind Narumi Oribe matcha bowl, handmade in Seto, Japan.
Warm tones of ochre and soft orange form the foundation of the bowl, interrupted by expressive washes of traditional Oribe green and hand-painted motifs. The decoration shifts as the bowl is turned, revealing small abstract and figurative markings that give each side its own character.
Its gently irregular form, visible throwing lines, glaze variation, and subtle crazing celebrate the hand of the maker rather than perfect uniformity. The deep green Oribe glaze pools and runs naturally across portions of the surface, creating beautiful variations in color and texture.
Made for the preparation and enjoyment of matcha, the bowl also stands beautifully on its own as a collectible piece of Japanese ceramic art.
The bowl comes with its custom wooden box, adding to the presentation and provenance of this individual piece.
