Japanese tea, with a different side to discover.
When we think of tea from Japan, green tea and matcha usually come to mind. Hayashi is something a little unexpected—a Japanese black tea, known as wakoucha, organically grown and made in small batches in Kagoshima, Japan.
Brew a cup and it begins soft and mellow, with a gentle natural sweetness and a delicate aroma. As you continue drinking, a subtle dryness comes through at the finish, giving the tea just enough depth without becoming too strong.
It’s an easy tea to settle into. I’d make a cup in the afternoon, when there’s time to sit for a few minutes, or brew a pot to share after lunch. It has the familiar warmth of black tea, but with a softer character that makes it distinctly its own.
For anyone who already loves Japanese tea, Hayashi offers something new to explore. And if black tea is already part of your day, this is a beautiful way to experience it from a different part of the world.
