Dark, sculptural, and beautifully understated.
Handmade by Seto Yaki Pottery in Seto, Japan, this matcha bowl features a deep charcoal-black finish with hand-cut, faceted sides that give it a strong geometric character. The softly uneven rim and subtle marks left from making keep the bowl from feeling too perfect—and that’s exactly what makes it special.
Inside, the dark surface has a quiet texture and natural variation that catches the light beautifully. Against the black interior, the bright green of freshly whisked matcha really pops.
The bowl feels substantial in the hands, with a wide shape that gives you plenty of room to whisk. It’s a piece made for everyday matcha, but with enough presence that you may want to leave it out on display.
As with all handmade ceramics, small variations in shape, surface, and finish are part of the piece and make each bowl unique.
