Persimmon Astringent Dust Pan

Paper, bamboo, and the natural tannins of persimmon fruit. An everyday cleaning tool made from unexpected materials.

Crafted in Japan, this traditional dustpan brings together a lightweight paper body, a protective coating of persimmon astringent, and a slender bamboo frame.

The persimmon coating helps strengthen and protect the paper, while the bamboo gives the dustpan structure without unnecessary weight. Its flat edge rests against the floor, making it easy to sweep up dust, crumbs, and the little things that gather throughout the day.

There's a lovely simplicity to its construction. The warm, earthy character of the paper, the natural grain of bamboo, and the small palm-fiber loop that lets it hang neatly beside your broom.

Paired with a traditional Japanese hemp palm broom, it turns an ordinary household task into a small pleasure.

Light enough to reach for every day. Beautiful enough to leave hanging in plain sight.
