This plate is handcrafted by the Yanase family in Koishiwara pottery village. This village creates Koishiwara-ware, utilitarian tableware which has a signature reddish glaze created since before the Meiji era, as well as the "flying plane" pattern. Place any food item such as greens or meat and it will surely jazz up your tableware!

Established 350 years ago, YANASE HONKA MAMOTO Kiln of Koishiwara ware is one of the prestigious "Honke Juttou" kilns. The kiln specializes in the distinctive techniques of Koishiwara ware, such as "tobikanna" (decorative cutting) and "kushime" (comb patterns), and tastefully blend traditional methods with contemporary styles.
