This Wild Clay and Glaze Teacup is crafted from locally foraged clay found in Northern CA, resulting in a distinctive and durable clay body with plenty of character. The use of minimal processing adds to its rustic charm.
Handcrafted on the pottery wheel, each teacup is unique. The sides are faceted while the clay is still moist, resulting in a natural, fluid shape. Crushed local stones and wood ash are used to create two distinctive glazes, which may remain in separate layers or blend together to form a cascading pattern. This design is inspired by the Japanese technique of Chosen Karatsu.
4-4.5" tall. Holds about 10-12oz
Please note: due to the handmade nature of the cups, shape and surface will vary somewhat from piece to piece.
